Our internal interpretations are how we experience the outer world. Our internal world is an unconscious expression of the biological responses we have experienced through social interactions. It tells a story of us. We believe this story is us. However, when we believe in this story, we remain stagnant. Once we are aware of how we respond to anything that shows up in our lives, we can make the necessary shifts to move beyond this realm.
Our internal experience is our world. It is how we perceive the outside world, through the lens of us. This lens is so embedded in us that we believe these stories to be us. However, these are only biological responses based on the past events of our lives. It is personal to us. Therefore, no matter what we experience in this internal world, it seems real to us. As an evolving human, we must honour these experiences for ourselves, even if it doesn't make sense to others.
Whatever we experience in this inner world, is how we experience the outer world. So, when we are rude, judgemental, critical or hard on ourselves, this is the level of hostility we perceive of the outside world. However, when we begin softening within ourselves, showing compassion, grace, and forgiveness, and giving ourselves the chance and the space to make mistakes, we create a fluid space to hone our true selves. And this is exactly how we begin communicating with others too - through a connecting mindset.
Our internal world is constantly interpreting the outside world. This is an unconscious function of the brain. It is an automatic function. However, to shift our stories, we need to be mindful of the stories that prop up. It's not possible to be aware of all the stories that do. However let's say in the event where you might feel resentful, critical or mean about others, unpack the thought process.
What part of me is critical of this circumstance? Why does it feel threatened? What about me does it want to defend from others?
The more you get to know this part from which the thought process, originates, the more you can change your emotional relationship with it. From a hostile/defensive nervous system to that we cultivate connections with others.
Our nervous system is an expression of our internal world. It is how we navigate our world. It is also how we perceive ourselves with the outside world. The more you practise harbour connection within yourself, the more you can do so while relating with others too.
Our internal world is the source of our outer world. It is our responsibility to tend to it while honouring our abstract realities. Differences hold possibilities. And this is the best possible way to nurture loving connections with others.
