The thing about receptivity is that it is the intention with which we perceive whatever shows up in our life, what we decide it means for us, and how we proceed with it. It is the intention with which we accept our life's offerings.
This is what it means to keep an open heart. How easily do you allow blessings to enter into your life? Do you graciously accept the offering? Or do you add another subconscious barrier to make you feel like you've got to earn it?
Our life experiences mould our subconscious and our ways of being. In this journey, we create self-fulfilling definitions for ourselves. In the sense, of what it means to be righteous. We define our values, our integrity, our ethical sense, what we portray, and most of all - what we'd like to be portrayed as.
Sometimes these definitions can prove contradictory as we move further in our life journey. The ideals can hold us back from the qualities we'd like to grow through. But then, that's the thing about life. You've got to unlearn everything you've known to progress through the next phase in your life.
Being receptive is an invitation to self-liberation. It asks you to make sense of your circumstances and take the necessary steps forward. Sometimes, you grow through this. And at other times, you have to stand your ground and decide not to proceed. It teaches you the wisdom to discern the environments you can grow through, and others with no scope. It holds you accountable for your life choices.
For a second, just be real with yourself. Check in with your choices. Are you choosing something chaotic just because it feels virtuous? Or are you dismissing your sense of natural clarity as something easy and ungratifying?
Notice your strengths. See what you'd like to grow through. Despite the ideals of what you've known so far, your gifts may lie in a different range. Are you willing to notice this? Are you willing to nurture this?
Your greatest life lies at the other end of your acceptance.
