Do you know how you work with resistance (such as equipment with weights or resistance bands) in the gym to gain strength? To enhance our mental strength and capacity, we follow a similar structure.
Many times, when we need to do something, our minds don't allow us to follow through. Despite taking some steps forward, this resistance looms over our heads like it's the only force that exists.
It gives you the feeling that this block is all there is, garnering a sense of finality. It threatens your sense of self and creates fear within you. It wants you to forcibly surrender to this stoppable illusion.
However, our strength lies in not giving in to this overwhelm. Your mind will give you reasons why you shouldn't do it. But resist this and move forward with each step. Eventually, these voices will quieten, and you can easily go about your day.
Resistance is an invitation to lean into an aspect of life that you want, but you've subconsciously not allowed yourself to move through. It's a protective mechanism that keeps you from hurting yourself, in case you end up seeming foolish.
When you dare to enter this space, it feels like you are moving towards an end, but really, it's just another beginning. You leave behind all that you didn't think possible and enter a realm of possibilities you didn't know existed.Resistance is an invitation towards experiential change. It is a practice of surrender, a practising in shifting and increasing our natural capacities to experience different worlds.
