Treading Beyond the Known

There's just one thread of all-encompassing human experiences. All of our supposed ideals are simply compartmentalization and accumulation of different qualities considered virtues. But who attests to the final framework of the ideal?

Each experience is a subjective version of a common universe. When we label experiences as something that makes sense and others that don't, we are segregating our thought processes and the way our world functions.

The ways of the universe are a mystery. Humanity has existed only for a blip, and we have already begun to segregate and stack our experiences as those that are preferable and acceptable over those that aren't. Unfortunately, these qualities are the base over which we weigh the desirability of one another as well.

We are never going to know which card we'll be dealt with. And each experience requires us to unlearn all that we have defined to understand. It requires us to let go of many beliefs that we've held on to so far. And it can be an uncomfortable process.

Every time we respond with an awareness that our version is a subjective experience, we allow other truths to exist in their own right. As humans, the only way we can make sense of the world is by setting up daily (individual and collective) patterns that can keep us safe.

But this comes at a cost. Of differentiating, and competing. That one ideal is better than the other.

When we practise dissolving the compartments we have created in our minds, it gives us a chance to respond in a way that is appropriate to the moment, and not to the ideal. This gives a benefit of doubt to the parties involved, keeping just the appropriate amount of subjectivity in the experience.

It allows us to go beyond what we know, and make space for our subjective truths to be challenged. To venture into new worlds, and create possibilities.

It teaches us humility. That, despite empathy, there are so many truths that rightfully exist, which we might never get to viscerally experience. We can only know of it. And others that we might never.
